Manitoba Music Export in the UK

We're thrilled to return to the UK for music + fun with two groundbreaking artists from Manitoba... pop powerhouse Begonia and post-punk outfit Fold Paper!

Find us at Canada House at The Great Escape in Brighton! Presented by CIMA, this year's event includes 18 incredible independent acts from across Canada showcasing at The Green Door Store on May 16 - 18. We'll also make a stop at London's Strongroom Bar for a Canadian Music Showcase on May 14. You can catch both artists at FOCUS Wales in Wrexham, presented by BreakOut West.

Begonia

Pegged as Canada’s breakout alt-diva, Begonia has built a legion of fans online and at her legendary live shows. Her critically acclaimed discography includes Lady In Mind EP (2017), Fear (2019) and Powder Blue (2023). Among her accolades, she has two JUNO nominations (2021 and 2024, Adult Alternative Album of the Year), two Polaris Prize nominations, multiple #1 songs on CBC Radio, and was named one of NPR’s Artists You Need to Know.

Her sophomore album, Powder Blue emerged in early 2023 and confronts themes of sexuality, self-discovery, acceptance, and empowerment. The album was named one of CBC Music’s Best Canadian Albums of 2023 (#7) and was shortlisted for the 2023 Polaris Music Prize.

Fold Paper

Fold Paper is the post-punk brainchild of Chell Osuntade. Over the past 5 years Chell has built up a name for himself while touring with bands like JayWood and Super Duty Tough Work. Eventually, Chell decided it was time to create a band that would continue to carry his aura while also showing a new side of his musical creativity. After performing with bands like Cola, Stuck, and Holy F*ck; Fold Paper is dedicated to nudging post-punk revivalism into a hopeful future, taking cues from the likes of Unschooling, Palm, Stuck, and Preoccupations.

The Great Escape Festival

CIMA will be returning to The Great Escape Festival & Conference this May in Brighton, UK for 3 full days of Canada House showcases! As the UK’s premier new music and industry gathering, The Great Escape Festival is where sectors from the entire UK music industry come to network, make deals, and generally grease the wheels of industry.
