Artists from Manitoba Build UK Markets at The Great Escape Festival

Two artists from Manitoba are heading out across the Atlantic for one of the UK's premier music industry events, The Great Escape Festival. Manitoba Music will be on the ground at the annual festival, which features over 500 bands from around the globe tearing up venues across Brighton.
Manitoba Music will partner with CIMA alongside provincial music industry associations from across the country to present showcases at Canada House at The Green Door Store on May 15 - 17. Hitting the stage for Manitoba this year are non-binary slacker rocker CJ Wiley and indie singer/songwriter Field Guide.
JUNO-winning Toronto-based, Tataskweyak Cree Nation artist Sebastian Gaskin is also part of this year’s lineup. All the artists have been steadily building buzz in European markets and inking deals for labels and reps across multiple markets.
On the road to The Great Escape, Manitoba Music will be at London's Strongroom Bar for a Canadian Music Showcase on May 13 featuring CJ Wiley and Field Guide. CJ Wiley will kick off the month with a series of showcases at FOCUS Wales in Wrexham, May 8 - 10.
The UK has been a key market for artists and music companies from Manitoba, offering opportunities to build important business relationships with festivals, labels, and agents through export showcases and networking events.
Manitoba Music’s export initiatives are made possible by the support of FACTOR, the Government of Canada and Canada’s private radio broadcasters, Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) through the Government of Canada, the Manitoba Government, and Manitoba Film & Music.

Tearing through Canada on a groundswell of breezy, gripping slacker rock, non-binary singer-songwriter CJ Wiley doesn’t waste any time. With a message of love, healing and rancour, Wiley’s sound is urgent and undeniable. In ballads twanged slightly country, anthems skewed slightly grunge, Wiley’s musical project leads with their distinct voice, armed with the wit, candour, and energy of an artist with a striking perspective and a heart that demands to be heard. In their wide-reaching catalogue, a spectrum of soulful Sheryl Crow Americana and the electric grumblings of Garbage, sometimes in the space of a single song, they’ve carved out a decisive path for themselves in tongue-in-cheek stories about starting fresh, loss, gender, and how expensive it is to be alive. Wiley’s music is a down-and-dirty-roots-rock revelation into and over the horizon — and they’re bringing you with them

Field Guide is the Winnipeg, Canada based indie-rock/singer-songwriter project of Dylan MacDonald.
