Blurfest Celebrates Culture, Music, and Innovation on July 5

The outdoor music festival season is in full swing, and one of Winnipeg's newest is set to return... Blurfest! Launched first in 2022, the festival celebrates Afrobeats music, fashion, and lifestyle. 

The music lineup features artists performing Afrobeats, hip-hop, amapiano, R&B, and electronic music, including Reynalyne Gacilan, DXXN, French Rk, Rere Sax, Danny-El, Prettyboykay, DMIXX, Kabuki, CODE-E, Gamabear, Jaheil, and more.

Old Market Square will host the festivities, including food and stalls with goods from local businesses and Black-owned vendors. Festival goers can also check out live art, digital installations, and fashion pop-ups blending Afro-diasporic style with futuristic aesthetics. Blurfest will include interactive zones, photo installations, brand experiences, and immersive play areas. This year, the festival will feature new LED displays during the live show, 

The celebration will continue at the official Blurfest afterparty, Second Wave, at Diablo at 11 PM for more with festival DJs including Gamabear and CODE-E.

Blurfest will also host panel talks on July 4 at 5PM covering two important topics: Breaking Borders: Globalization of Afrobeats and Afrobeats Drip: Style, Fashion & Visual Identity of the Genre. Panelists include Oladimeji Anu, Brainleads, Tempoe Tribe, SVN, Oghosa Saria, and Udubunch. Stay tuned for more info to be announced.

Balogun is the CEO and founder of Blureventsng, which presents the festival.
