BPM X CCFM | Black Artists Explore Creative Collaboration with DPlus and Showcase Music at Le Patio 340 on August 22

Posted on

Black music makers in Manitoba will be exploring creative collaboration and sharing music live at Le Patio 340 on August 22 via BPM | Black Professionals in Music program at Manitoba Music: BPM X CCFM. The project was made possible by the financial support of FACTOR, the Government of Canada and Canada’s private radio broadcasters, The Manitoba Government, and Manitoba Film and Music.

The partnership with Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain (CCFM) will feature a day-long song camp led by acclaimed producer and musical director DPLUS featuring local artists, culminating in a free concert and showcase at the picturesque St. Boniface patio space. Dplus will work with the artists to explore different Black music genres and styles (e.g. dancehall, Reggae, gospel, Afrobeats, jazz, hip hop, etc.) and how those elements and styles can be incorporated into the artists’ own music. After the song camp, DPLUS, along with his band, will bring the music to Le Patio 340’s stage along with the song camp participants, who will each share a few songs, followed by DJ Gamabear spinning tunes. The event is free and open to the public.

Artists participating in the song camp and showcase include emerging hip hop artist Charlie Boom, Western Canadian Music Award-nominated Afro pop/Afro fusion act DXXN, R&B/Afrofusion/jazz artist INGIA, R&B/Afro pop artist Laurel Chanté, soul/Samba-influenced jazz act Luana Cunha, adult contemporary/indie singer Quincy Telus, and Afro/trap/R&B artist Yvng Chriis

The artists will also have a chance to learn from and connect with visiting Toronto-based music supervisor Danica Bansie of PIRATE SOUND for a special industry workshop on August 23 at the Manitoba Music office. Just like all BPM workshops, this free weekend workshop is geared at members of the Black music community, but is free and open to all. All members of Manitoba’s music community are welcome. Pre-register for the workshop

Adedayo Ajayi, popularly known as DPLUS, is a celebrated music producer, session musician, and the visionary founder of Eehko Entertainment—a creative hub dedicated to nurturing and showcasing talent across the music and entertainment landscape.

Music found me early. My journey began at the age of five, inspired by Saturday mornings filled with hymns and harmonies, played by my father on the family piano. That sound—those moments—shaped my musical DNA and ignited a lifelong passion that continues to evolve.

Over the years, I’ve been privileged to work with a diverse roster of artists, both in Nigeria and internationally. These collaborations include Burna Boy, Tems, Timaya, Banky W, Frank Edwards, Lagbaja, Amarae, 9ice, Boj, Skales, Tim Godfrey, Don Moen, Nicole C. Mullen, Isaiah Samson, Ada Ehi, PiTA, Michael Gray, Masterkraft, Tolani Otedola, Sunmisola, Dare Justified, Noble G, Anita White, Faith Thompson, Humblesmith, Simi, Vanessa Mdee, and many more. Each project has expanded my creative vision and reaffirmed my commitment to excellence.

Beyond music, I’ve also had the honor of collaborating with Globacom, a leading telecommunications brand in Nigeria, and I hold a special place in Nord’s story as the first Nigerian to unveil the Nord Stage 4—a milestone that reflects my commitment to pushing boundaries and bridging global soundscapes.

Today, my mission is expanding. I’m focused on producing impactful events and mentoring the next generation of creatives, sharing what I’ve learned from decades of experience rooted in passion, discipline, and a deep respect for the art.

At Eehko Entertainment, we don’t just create music—we build legacies.
