Performance Opportunity: Nagamooag neezochackak

The Indigenous Music Development Program (IMDP) at Manitoba Music is presenting the second edition of Nagamooag neezochackak, an evening to celebrate Indigiqueer and Two-Spirit musicians. 

The free public event will take place at Frenchie’s Records and Coffee on November 28 and will be a songwriter round workshop sharing songs and stories with a host asking questions. Solo artists and duos of all genres are welcome. Participating acts will receive an honorarium. 

Nagamooag neezochackak means “singing 2Spirits” in Anishinaabemowin, given by Elder Gayle Pruden of Little Saskatchewan, Manitoba.

Artists considered for this opportunity must:

  • Be a First Nation, Inuit, or Métis artist or group 
  • Be a part of the LGBTQ2S* community
  • Be a member of Manitoba Music (or become a member if selected) and a current resident of Manitoba
  • Be available to perform on the evening of November 28, 2025
  • Be able to perform up to 15 minutes of original material or arrangements live
  • Have a strong social media presence and local audience following 
  • Have recent professional career activity (e.g. recent or upcoming release - demo/EP/LP/single, live show, tour, festival sets, industry showcases, awards and nominations, media coverage, etc.) 
  • Have a professional promotional photo and short bio

Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee of industry professionals based on:

  • Quality of music
  • Quality of promotional materials
  • Online presence and fan engagement
