Born from the fusing of nine Winnipeg, MB based musicians. Apollo Suns have created a refreshing and innovative sound and live performance combining jazz, funk, rock and psychedelic music. They are "Instrumental Artists of the Year" nominees at the 2018 at the Western Canadian Music Awards.
Apollo Suns began in 2016 following of Ed Durochers (guitar) and Dave Guenettes (bass) previous band Electric Soul. Conciously heading in a new sonic direction the band quickly picked up Glenn (drums) and Anatol (Keyboards), Phil (trumpet), Erika (percussion), Anna (bari sax), Anthony (trombone) and Aaron (alto sax) to accompany and form the core of the band.
Their debut EP, Each Day a Different Sun, was released in April of 2017 followed by a Western and Eastern Canadian tours in support of the release. The album spent seven weeks on Earshot! National TOP 50 charts with it's top position at #15.
Apollo Suns released their follow up EP, Dawn Offerings, in April of 2019 with two sold out shows in Winnipeg. The album has been suppirted with a heavy touring schedule and festival showcases. The album received heavy airplay on national college radio and CBC.
In May of 2019 Apollo Suns signed with Paquin Artists Agency in Canada and recently signed with John Lares of California based talent agency, Cielo Agency, to begin touring the US in 2020.
Some of their more notable shows have included support slots for The Brooks, Anamolie, Kobo Town, The Harpoonist and The Axe Murderer, Wooden Sky, Mariachi Ghost, Five Alarm Funk, and Bend Sinister . as well as showcases at Canadian Music Week, Winnipeg Jazz Festival, Pride Winnipeg, Big Fun Festival, Golden Sound Music Festival, Ness Creek Music, Festival Du Voyageur and Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
Apollo Suns are an exciting band out of Winnipeg who are not afraid to walk a fine line and pave their own musical way into the hearts of music fans all across Canada and soon internationally.
