Ellie Ratel is a half-Filipino singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music speaks to the heart of life’s bittersweet moments. Based on Treaty 1 Territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she has drawn deep influence from her prairie upbringing, shaping a sound that blends indie folk, pop, and rock with eclectic textures and an honest perspective on life's seeming realities.

Ellie is best known for her work as a drummer in local bands STELLAR and sundayclub,  where she has spent years honing her craft in collaborative musical spaces. But it’s in her solo project where her true artistry comes to life—an exploration of emotional depth and creative freedom. Drawing from her classical percussion roots, Ellie’s solo work fuses enchanting rhythms with raw, heartfelt lyrics that reflect the complex journey of self-discovery, compassion, and heartbreak. She seeks to find beauty in the mundane, bringing listeners into a world where reality and emotional overwhelm collide in poetic waves.

Her debut as a solo artist came in 2024, where she was featured in the Winnipeg Folk Festival’s Young Performers Program and received coverage from the Filipino Journal. Now, Ellie is eager to expand her reach, connecting with audiences and fellow musicians who resonate with her authentic, emotionally charged sound. As she prepares to release new music in 2025, her journey continues to unfold—one song, one story, and one collaboration at a time.
