After 2 and a half very successful years during the tail end of the twenty teens, Greg Rekus had parked the van for the later half of 2019 to write and record a new record. Entitled Death and Taxes, the album will be released on CD and Vinyl as well as online Jan 8 2020, and will be followed by 4 months of touring. Western Canada and West Coast USA in January is where it will all begin. After a short break at home Rekus departs again spring 2020 with his fellow solo artist Tim Holehouse for Mid West and Eastern USA as well as a few show in Quebec. Immidiately following that rekus boards a plane for 6 weeks in Europe including UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Italy and France!

Rekus's latest full-length album, Death and Taxes (Jan 2020), once again enlists the genius of John Paul Peters (Royal Canoe, Comeback Kid Propagandhi) as engineer/producer. Featuring local musicians Laura Payne on bass and back-up vocals, Erik Strom on drums, and Darryl Riley on Sax backup Vocal and penny whistle, the album boasts thirteen original tracks taking all of their writing and playing to new levels. His previous releases Sibling Cities 2017 and Punkoustic 2014 Captured the attention of punk fans on both sides of the Atlantic and Opened many doors in terms of touring, festivals, and other opportunities. The addition of the Sax kept things fresh and added a new vibe to an already solid rhythum section and cavalcade of catchy hooks, interspective lyrics and fun little parts that can be the sound track to any situation

During live performances, audiences are treated to an entertainer who treats the stage as his home. With high energy and infectious enthusiasm, Rekus has a natural ability to engage with a diverse assortment of crowds from around the world. His lyrics speak to common experiences, such as drinking in a favourite hometown bar, or the simultaneous joy and heartache of falling in love, but also do not shy away from making pointed political commentary, coloured with the anger and frustration that comes along with it. Delivering each line with a force that is rivaled by few other solo artists, Rekus emphasizes his words with every strum of his guitar, pounding the beat out on his custom-built stomp box.

Rekus’s passion for music is bursting at the seams. It is the driving force that keeps him constantly on the road, and cranking out album after album of folk punk goodness. His hard work has already gotten him to places he never thought attainable, and as far as he’s concerned, the only way from here is up.
