About
We are Proximus 5, a five-voice male a cappella group based in Treaty One Territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Since our inception during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have offered a musical experience with “proximity.” We create closeness and connection with our audiences through our welcoming stage presence, poignant harmonies, and heartfelt performances. Equally proficient in choral, folk, classical, and pop styles from the 1300’s to today, our versatility and personability ensure that all audience members feel an authentic connection with our music.
Our group has over a century of combined professional performing experience in some of Canada’s finest choirs, including the Canadian Chamber Choir, Winnipeg Singers, Dead of Winter, and Canzona. In our five years as a group, we have performed both as featured festival artists and in sold-out self-produced Winnipeg shows. across Manitoba in Brandon, Melita, Winkler, and Minnedosa. and in Montreal as featured artists at Podium, the national choral conference.
What our audiences are saying:
"Exquisite sounds that are still resonating with their musicality and power and tenderness."
"The concert blew my mind."
"It's hard to put into words how spine tingling the singing was."
Proximus 5’s most important contribution to Canada’s cultural choral landscape is our core value of creating a meaningful community with our audiences through our love for and deep connection with the music. With one singer per part and our passionate performance style, our group’s intense harmonic landscape and meaningful text painting often incite a cathartic experience for our audiences. We invite audiences into our performances with our engaging and community-centric stage presence.
Proximus can’t be constrained by genre, style or convention - we are truly authentic to ourselves and believe in our message of unity and love through music.
