Folk Indie Rock Singer/songwriter
Days on Land are a folk-rock band from the remote town of Churchill, Manitoba, the latest thing to come out of the north. Formed in 2024, Days on Land is a subarctic collective led by singer-songwriter and filmmaker Roy Mexted. Originally from Australia, the north took a hold of him after a brief visit to Churchill, joined by Joe Stover, Jeremi Lesage and Eric Robb.
They are stepping onto the national stage with their first single “Bear 33”, out September 11, accompanied by a locally shot music video. “Bear 33” is inspired by the true story of a legendary polar bear that roamed near Churchill, Manitoba in the days when conservation teams painted numbers on problem bears to identify them.
Known for its polar bears, Belugas, and scientific research, Churchill is now home to a band that turns northern life into music. The debut album ‘Tales from the Shallow’s was proudly tracked in the north at Churchills Northern Lights Theater with producer Anthony Cenerini of Foxhole recordings.
Their formation follows the release of Mexted’s northern inspirted solo album Smiling Like a Sundog, which laid the groundwork for this full-band evolution.
