Chic Gamine
"Motions"

From the album Chic Gamine

Featured track, available from July 5 to July 13

The population of Birds Hill Park is about to explode. Thousands of music fans, volunteers, and performers are taking over for five nights and three days of music, people, and sunny weather. This year's crop of Manitoba artists hitting the Folk Fest stages is diverse and features the Juno-winning soul/roots pop of Chic Gamine; roots super trio Dry Bones; indie folk act Fish & Bird; Klezmer outfit Black Sea Station; sibling duo and Duhks alums Sarah and Christan Dugas; children's performers Aaron Burnett and Jake Chénier Band.

Chic Gamine will hit the main stage for a tweener on July 5 and play the Manitoba workshop at Big Bluestem at 12:45pm on July 6, and more. After Folk Fest, the quintet heads off to a number of shows including Festival D'été De Québec, Guelph's Hillside Festival, and Summerfolk in Owen Sound. They're also gearing up for the upcoming release of a new album featuring songs from their two award-winning albums remixed by Russell Elevado (Angelique Kidjo, Zap Mama, Jay-Z) and Dana Nielsen (Justin Timberlake, Sheryl Crow, Red Hot Chili Peppers). We've got a very special sneak preview of the album with this week's featured free song, Chic Gamine's song "Motions" like you've never heard it before. Download the song, watch their special "live in the tour van" video rendition of "Motions", and do not miss Chic Gamine at the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
