From the album Fool Under Water
Featured track, available from October 6 to October 13
Ila Barker is ready to unveil her new collection of songs this month. The Winnipeg-based Anishinaabe and settler singer-songwriter is set to release her 11-track studio recording, Fool Under Water, produced by Sierra Noble and Rusty Robot, on October 28. The forthcoming album features Barker's single "Intuition", which earned the top spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown, and "25", which was released along with a video, directed by Patrick Shannon of InnoNative, which premiered on ET Canada. Barker has also been busy on the stage and behind the scenes, including showcase spots at CMW and NXNE, participating last month in the inaugural SOCAN Indigenous Song Camp, and mentoring emerging Indigenous artists in her self-curated music workshop initiative AIRsessions. Hometown audiences will have a chance to celebrate the album a little before everyone else with a special release event at The Good Will Social Club on October 21, featuring Boogey the Beat, Andrina Turenne, and Stellar. We have her anthemic single "25" for you as this week's feature. Press please, get your tickets to the album release, read her Spotlight Series profile, and stay tuned for so very much more from Ila Barker!
