Darryl Buck

Hand Drum Indigenous Powwow Singer/songwriter

Darryl Buck

About

Darryl Buck is a proud father, singer, and cultural leader from the Mosakahikan and Opaskwayak Cree Nations. Raised in a Cree family rooted in tradition, Darryl grew up surrounded by ceremony, language, and the heartbeat of the hand drum. From a young age, he was taught by the men in his family about the sacred relationship between the singer, the drum, and Mother Earth—a foundation that has guided his life ever since.

Born, raised, and graduated in Northern Manitoba, Darryl also began his family life there before moving to Winnipeg in 2014. In the city, he founded All Good in the Hood, a grassroots cultural revitalization and anti-violence initiative. Whether he’s speaking to students, drumming on the streets of Winnipeg, or traveling across Turtle Island to share round dance songs, Darryl is committed to uplifting his people through music and ceremony.

His first album, HOPE, was released in August 2017 and was nominated for a 2018 Indigenous Music Award for Best Hand Drum Album. In July 2021, he followed up with his second album, Pray For Me, available on all major music platforms.

Darryl carries the responsibilities of a singer, pipe carrier, partner, and father with humility and strength. He believes music is both medicine and motivation—especially for the next generation. His message is simple but powerful: everyone has a song inside of them, if only they take the time to listen.
