Power 97 Announces River City Rocks Class of 2012 Band Search

Power 97 is on the hunt for the best independent rock bands in Manitoba. The rock radio stations has launched this year's edition of its River City Rocks competition, which offers winning bands a prize package geared to helping them promote their music. Bands can apply online at the River City Rocks website until May 15.

Music fans can get in on the action starting May 16 and ending June 15, voting for their favourites to for the top 20 spots. The top 20 bands will be judged by a Power 97 panel, selecting the best four bands to win it all: a membership to Manitoba Music, a gift certificate to Quest Musique, recording time at Bedside Studios, a seven-day promotional package that will promote a concert of your choice, and radio airplay on Power 97 for the entire summer.

Rock acts Stone Throw Second, Radio Electric, El Diablo, and In Transformation beat out hundreds of other local bands to take the top four spots in last year's River City Rocks competition.
