Manitoba’s Country Music Community Converges on Winnipeg for Industry Panels and Showcase
Manitoba Music and Manitoba Country Music Association to Present Showcase and Networking Mixer at Times Change(d) on Nov 8 and Workshops on Nov 9
Canada’s country music scene is going through a boom, with touring and recording artists making waves across the nation and around the globe. Manitoba’s own country music community is building on its reputation for stellar talent, producing acclaimed acts like David James, Desiree Dorion, Don Amero, Kendra Kay, Petric, and more.
Manitoba Music is teaming up with the Manitoba Country Music Association (MCMA) to bolster the local scene with the third edition of the Manitoba Country Music Meeting, featuring an industry showcase, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.
The showcase and networking mixer will take over Winnipeg honky tonk Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club on November 8. Three emerging local country acts -- Past the Perimeter, Rhianna Rae Saj, and Tyler Del Pino are set to hit the stage to perform for industry reps and music fans. The event is 18+ and tickets are $10 at the door. More info about the showcase
Artists and music companies will have a chance to connect with and learn from the visiting experts and local peers alike the following day at Manitoba Music’s Resource Centre. Panel discussions will cover business fundamentals specific to a career in country music, from building a fan-base to plugging into radio.
Panelists include reps from the marketing and promotion, live music, publishing and songwriter, and management worlds, including artist and radio show host Jason McCoy, Jayward Artist Group’s Jill Snell, songwriter and producer Karen Kosowski, Do Write Music’s Marghie Evans, and Paquin Artist Agency’s Rebecca Szymkow.
