Rainbow Trout Music Festival Celebrates Music and Community, August 15-17

For music fans looking to discover new artists at an intimate festival setting in the pristine outdoors, the Rainbow Trout Music Festival (RTMF) might just be the perfect summer event.
The annual event, which runs August 15-17 on the river banks just south of St. Malo, offers three days of music with a hyper-local focus, camping, craft vendors, and more. Founded in 2009 and organized by a dedicated volunteer-run group, the indie fest has built a loyal audience.
Of this year's 25+ performers, many are homegrown, and span plenty of genres. This year's lineup includes psychedelic alternative rock outfit Holy Void, shoegaze/indie rock/post-punk act Tired Cossack, indie-folk/pop artist FONTINE, blues/soul/rock/country act Irvin Miller, songwriter/producer/composer/pianist KIARA, prog rocker dr.rift, Filipino-Canadian punk rock trio The 12/21, country rocker Orvis, folk artist Sam Singer, indie R&B/pop artist CEC, tweeners queer bilingual singer/songwriter EARTH ANGEL and Afro-pop/Afro-fusion artist DXXN, and more. Touring acts making their way to Manitoba include Luge, World News 808909, and SO TIRED.
This year marks the last festival at the longtime O’Roseau River venue, which organizers will celebrate with a special ticket launch on May 17 at 2 PM at The Forks on The Good Ship Trout. The event, in partnership with Winnipeg Waterways Tours & Transit, will offer a chance to purchase a limited number of memento tickets and feature music from singer/songwriter Nic Dyson. “This is a celebration of our roots,” says Keeley Braunstein-Black, RTMF’s Artistic Director, in a media release. “We’ve gone from backyards to one of Manitoba’s most iconic grassroots festivals, but we never forget where we came from. These tickets are more than admission — they’re a keepsake from the last summer at O’Roseau.”
Tickets go on sale May 18 at 12 PM. Stay tuned for the performance schedule!
