OP-ED

Alternative Metal Punk Rock

About

OP-ED is a Palestinian-led protest rock band based in Winnipeg. It was founded in late 2023 by Canadian-Palestinian refugee Tarek Abdel Aziz to tell stories of resistance, resilience, and defiance. OP-ED was born out of a need to push back against silence and challenge mainstream narratives through music. The band brings together some of Winnipeg’s most talented musicians: Jay Nowicki (The Perpetrators), Rusty Robot (Imaginary Cities, The Waking Eyes), and Art Antony (Collectors Studio). Together, they create the raw, high-energy sound of OP-ED that blends rock, grunge, and punk with lyrics that cut straight to the heart of struggle and solidarity.

OP-ED released their debut concept album, 75 years, a politically aware and deeply personal concept record featuring a collection of songs that follow a young Palestinian couple caught in the horrors of war.
