Eagle & Hawk
"What If We Could"
From the album The Great Unknown
Featured track, available from March 24 to March 31
Five Manitoba acts have a chance to pick up Juno Awards this year in Toronto. Nominees Chic Gamine, Del Barber, Little Hawk, and Eagle & Hawk will all be in the Big Smoke for the 40th annual festivities (fellow nom Ruth Moody is busy on tour with The Wailin' Jennys), which includes a week of stellar events, including the popular two-night JunoFest. If you're not lucky enough to be in Toronto to catch the Junos, you can tune in to CTV to watch them live on March 27.
We've got Eagle & Hawk's "What If We Could," featuring guest vocalist Jaylene Johnson, as the free download this week in The Loudspeaker. The track is off the trailbalzing rock outfit's latest effort, The Great Unknown, which has racked up an impressive 16 award nominations this year. The concept album is based on the Greek myth of Orpheus, re-written in the Ojibwe tradition. Eagle & Hawk will be at The Rivoli in Toronto as part of the Native America North project during Juno week, and band members Vince Fontaine and Jay Bodner will also take part in their sixth Juno Cup hockey game. Post-Junos, Eagle & Hawk will head south for a main stage gig at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in May.
