"Red River Jig"
From the album Brand New Good Old Days
Featured track, available from July 9 to July 16
Thousands of people are busy making their annual pilgrimage to Birds Hill Park for the Winnipeg Folk Festival, which kicked off its 36th year on July 8. Included in the festival's weekend population are several Manitoba acts ready to take over stages: Alana Levandoski (who opens Main Stage on July 9), Jackpine, Don Amero, Dominique Reynolds, Dust Poets, Big Dave McLean, Ridley Bent, Fred Penner, Mr. Mark, and Alphabet Soup. To help us celebrate, Jackpine is offering up "Red River Jig," from its debut release on Dollartone Records, Brand New Good Old Days. Just click the red button by July 16 and it's yours. While you're listening, check out the schedule of local talent in the Live Music Calendar and on the Folk Fest profile page, and read more about what's going on this year.
Every week, Manitoba Music offers free a downloadable music track by a great local artist. Available for a limited time from Thursday to Thursday, be sure to grab these songs while you can... and to check back for more!
