Ruth Moody
"One and Only"

From the album These Wilder Things

Featured track, available from April 25 to May 3

From the looks of her tour page in the last year, Ruth Moody has logged more days on the road than off. The singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, who also is a founding member of two-time Juno Award-winning trio The Wailin' Jennys, somehow also found time to record These Wilder Things, the follow-up to her Juno-nominated album, The Garden. Released in Canada on April 23 via True North Records and May 4 in the U.S. on Red House Records, These Wilder Things was produced and engineered by longtime collaborator David Travers-Smith and features and handful of well-known guest musicians including music legend Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits (she returned the favour by singing on his latest, Privateering).

Amidst recent showcases at SXSW, Los Angeles, and CAPACOA, and a performance on CBC's Q with Jian Ghomeshi earlier this month, Moody hit the road for yet more touring in Canada, U.S., and Europe. She'll also open for Knopfler on 12 European shows, including six consecutive nights at the London's famed Royal Albert Hall. Hometown audiences will get a rare glimpse of Moody and her band at the West End Cultural Centre on April 25, where she'll celebrate the album release.

Her song "One and Only", featuring the harmonies of The Jennys' Nicky Mehta and Heather Masse, is our featured download this week. Grab it for free, listen to it while reading our pre-release profile on Moody (and catch up on other news while you're at it), and don't miss  your chance to see Ruth Moody live in Winnipeg.
