Past song of the week / February 2014

Jocelyne Baribeau

From the album Petit Papiers

Featured track, available from February 13 to February 21

Winter's biggest festival is almost upon us! Festival du Voyageur, which turns 45 in this year, kicks off its 10-day run on February 14, offering music fans the chance to see over 100 musical acts in pretty much every genre, including plenty of homegrown talent. Winnipeg singer/songwriter Jocelyne Baribeau will be especially busy, with two performances plus another handful as her children's performer alter ego, Madame Diva. Baribeau will play Festival's Sugar Shack on Feb 20 and then Manitoba Music's Rame à la rencontre showcase at Promenade Café et Vin on Feb 21 (see Madame Diva's schedule here). Coming up, Baribeau will host Open Mic at The Folk Exchange on March 21 and the Scène Manitoban on March 26. This week's featured song is "Colinda", off Baribeau's Western Canadian Music Award-nominated debut album, Petits Papiers. Download it, don't miss her live on stage, and celebrate Festival du Voyageur! Hé ho!
