Curtis Nowosad
"Dialectics"

From the album Dialectics

Featured track, available from March 12 to March 20

Acclaimed composer, drummer, and bandleader Curtis Nowosad returns to Winnipeg this month for the Canadian release of his sophomore album, Dialectics. Out on March 17 via Vancouver-based label Cellar Live Records, the album is already generating some serious buzz, landing four and a half stars from tastemaking jazz bible, Down Beat magazine, and nods from All That JazzJazz News, Winnipeg Free Press, and more. Currently based in New York City pursuing graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music, Nowosad is taking over his hometown stage at West End Cultural Centre on March 20 for the album release, along with his music cohorts, trumpeter Derrick Gardner, alto sax player Jon Gordon, bassist Steve Kirby, and pianist Will Bonness. Stay tuned... you may also see Nowosad's name on marquees at a few jazz festivals this summer. Meanwhile, we've got a little taste of the album with this week's download of the title track. Give it a spin, take it home, watch Nowosad's stellar live performance in our Loft Sessions, and don't miss him live on stage.
