The Crooked Brothers
"Blackbird in the Snow"

From the album Thank You I'm Sorry

Featured track, available from July 7 to July 15

The tents are up and stage is set... it's time for the Winnipeg Folk Festival. Festival-goers have plenty of chances to catch some homegrown talent on the fest's hallowed stages this year. The Crooked Brothers, Dan Frechette & Laurel Thomsen, Matt EppRed Moon Road, William Prince, and more will share their songs and stories at workshops and concerts out at Birds Hill Park, including Sunday's Manitoba workshop at Big Bluestem at 4PM. Dark roots trio The Crooked Brothers have the honour of kicking off the festival on the Main Stage on Thursday. After Folk Fest, The Crooked Brothers head west to play more festival dates, including the Vancouver Folk Fest, Bella Coola Musicfest, and Artswells, before returning home for Harvest Sun. On the horizon, the band returns to Europe for six weeks of tour dates in England, Scotland, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland. To get you in the Folk Fest mood, we've got The Crooked Brothers' tune "Blackbird in the Snow" for you as this week's featured song. Get it, read more about this year's local acts at WFF, and get out there and enjoy some live local music.
