Steve Kirby's Oceanic Jazz Orchestra
"Assiniboine"

From the album All Over the Map

Featured track, available from February 16 to February 24

Steve Kirby has some new music for your ears this month. The acclaimed composer and jazz bassist is set to launch his new recording, All Over the Map, with his hybrid jazz-classical ensemble the Oceanic Jazz Orchestra. Out via local label Head In The Sand on February 24, the album features a wide range of instrumentation as well as compositions that infuse elements from jazz, folk, rock, hip hop, baroque, French impressionist, electronic, and tango. No stranger to the music landscape of Manitoba and far beyond its borders, Kirby most recently took the stage at the WSO's New Music Festival and showcased at the APAP conference in New York City, plus landing on the airwaves on Toronto's JazzFM91 and a premiere on CBC Radio-Canada. Kirby and his musical cohorts will celebrate the launch at the West End Cultural Centre on February 18 and we've got something to keep your ears busy until then... get yourself Kirby's tune "Assiniboine", check out the whole album, and do not miss Steve Kirby's Oceanic Jazz Orchestra live on stage.
