Malcolm-Jay
"Would You feat. Jas Mace"

From the album The Enemy Within

Featured track, available from June 29 to July 7

Winnipeg is welcoming a new music festival to the mix. Shining a spotlight on the local hip hop, R&B, and soul communities, the Northern Touch Music Festival makes its debut June 30 - July 1 and features two nights of showcases and two days of industry panels and discussions. One of the acts hitting the showcase stage is Malcolm-Jay. The Toronto born and Winnipeg raised producer and emcee will perform at The Park Theatre on July 1 alongside several fellow locals including SlySkeeta, Cypha Diaz, Mal Magorel, and Katrina Van Humbeck, plus Toronto R&B singer Tessa. Formerly a member of hip hop group The Happy Unfortunate, Malcolm-Jay released his first solo effort, Missed Connections, last year via Urbnet. We've got a sneak peek at Malcolm-Jay's upcoming album, The Enemy Within, for you this week. He'll release the recording on September 30 during Nuit Blanche at Albert Street Cocktail but you don't have to wait that long to get a first listen... this week's featured song is "Would You" featuring Tokyo-based rapper Jas Mace, along with percussionist Tony Ustel and guitarist Matthew Wilson. Malcolm-Jay will also play on July 1 at The Forks Underpass at 8pm, and you can look for him August 3 at Carbone on St. Mary and September 14 at the University of Winnipeg. Stay tuned for more, get "Would You", and get out to see Malcolm-Jay live at Northern Touch Music Festival.
