This time of year, things sound a little bit different on the radio. Campus and community radio station, CKUW 95.9 FM, changes its regular programming for the annual Fundrive festivities. Kicking off on February 4 with a free show at Platform Gallery with Ultra Mega and JR Hill, Fundrive continues on the air until February 12. People can call in and pledge their support for listener driven radio during their favourite shows and potentially get a thwack of great prizes. Fundrive also hits various venues with eight events featuring tons of local music, including The Crooked Brothers, Not Animals, and Kasm. Middle Names will be closing out Fundrive at The Lo Pub on February 12 with The Playing Cards.
The February 12 closer is also Middle Names' debut. The noisy pop outfit isn't exactly new to the scene, though. The band boasts some familiar names from Novillero -- Rod Slaughter, Jack Jonasson, and Sean Stevens -- as well as Haunter's Jory Hassleman. And to help celebrate Fundrive, we're offering up Middle Names' song "Big Plans" in The Loudspeaker. Grab it, tune in, catch a show.
