The BPM X CCFM Song Camp returns with a new edition this month, featuring a showcase and concert on August 22 at Le Patio 340, and specialized professional development with visiting Toronto-based music supervisor Danica Bansie of PIRATE SOUND.
Just like all BPM workshops, this free weekend workshop is geared at members of the Black music community, but is free and open to all. All members of Manitoba’s music community are welcome.
Music Supervision Q+A, 2 PM
Getting music placed in film, TV, and video games can be an important source of income for songwriters and composers, but it can be challenging to get started and have your music heard by music supervisors. We’re excited to welcome music supervisor Danica Bansie from PIRATE SOUND in Toronto to help share info and answer questions about music supervision to help you get started.
Open Demo Listening Session, 3 PM
Once you’ve finished your latest creation, you naturally want it heard on as many radio stations and playlists as possible. But does your song have that special something that makes radio programmers and playlist editors take notice? Music supervisor Danica Bansie will join us for a listening session to help zero in on some of the things industry experts look for in a song.
In this session, participants who have pre-submitted their music will be able to listen to their songs alongside our industry expert for feedback and be part of the discussion with peers about what makes a strong first impression.
All members of Manitoba’s music community are to join the audience. Only those who have pre-submitted music will be eligible to have their songs heard. All genres and musical compositions are welcome to submit. Space is limited and songs will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Music will be heard and feedback shared as a group.
To submit: Please email a streaming link or an mp3 of the song or songs to alex@manitobamusic.com by Friday, August 22 at 5 PM with "demo listening session” in the subject line. N.B. File-sharing links (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer) will not be accepted.
