Manitoba Music is heating things up on Canada Day at The Forks presented by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries this year with a stellar all-local lineup of live music on two stages. Performing for an audience of thousands who gather at The Forks to celebrate our nation’s birthday, Manitoba Live will feature performances from over a dozen acts spanning just about every genre, culminating in a remarkable onstage collaboration between JUNO nominated singer/songwriter Don Amero and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

The main event at the Festival Stage kicks off with a bang from dynamic Mexican trad prog rockers The Mariachi Ghost at 6 p.m. followed by sets from reunited mod rock twosome Duotang, country pop act Kendra Kay, and indie pop/rockers Mise en Scene. To close out this year’s festivities, the silken voiced Don Amero will join the WSO to set the stage for a spectacular fireworks display.

The bustling hub at the Canopy Stage will feature more diverse Manitoba acts including the community collective JD and The Sunshine Band, award-winning Francophone singer/songwriter Jocelyne Baribeau, Prairiegaze pair Basic Nature, sibling folk duo Roger Roger, Francophone hip hop act Trésor Ezoman, 2016 Western Canadian Music Awards double nominee William Prince, pop band Panicland, indie folk/rockers FINN, indie rock act Micah Visser, dark synthpop duo Ghost Twin, and electronic pop outfit VIKINGS.

Revelers can gear up for the festivities by clicking over to the Manitoba Live streaming playlist at manitobamusic.com/canadaday, complete with music, video, band bios, and more. Visitors can stream it from their desktops or take it for a walk on their mobile devices around The Forks.

The Forks hosts the city's biggest birthday party on Canada Day. Aside from the two incredible musical stages, the free family-friend event also includes food trucks, kids art activities with the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Founding Nations Tribal Village, Parks Canada's free activities, special themed activities at the Children’s Museum, and a Public Market.
