Manitoba Music Launches 3rd Edition of Sound Waves Music Meeting + Showcase

Music Conference with Focus on Live Music Heads to The Forks, Free Local Showcase at The Handsome Daughter in Partnership with Winterruption and Real Love Winnipeg
Sound Waves Music Meeting (SWMM) returns this month for the third edition of the creative conference on industry development and community connection, presented and programmed by Manitoba Music.
SWMM welcomes industry pros and music makers for specialized and interactive training through presentations, discussions, mixers, one-on-one meetings, and creative sessions. This year’s programming focuses on all things live music, with solid advice from professionals on navigating the ever-evolving music sector.
SWMM’s goal is to offer the music community in Manitoba an opportunity to learn from, network with, and be inspired by a cross section of industry experts and local peers. Both emerging and established music makers will benefit from skills-building presentations on topics including concrete advice on booking shows and festivals, touring logistics, promotion, local venues, SOCAN 101, artist Identity and branding, asset building, and more. This year will also feature a live performance coaching masterclass. Manitoba Music will partner with Winnipeg-owned ticketing platform 3Common for a special networking mixer for mentors and participants. Check out the SWMM schedule
The action moves to The Handsome Daughter on Friday, January 24 for a free showcase featuring four stellar local acts, presented in partnership with Real Love Winnipeg as part of Winterruption. Indie folk act Sam Singer, Red River Metis country singer/songwriter Brandi Vezina, Afrodiem artist and producer TOMMYPHYLL, and indie pop rockers sundayclub will take the stage. Soul Supreme, Synonym Sound, and Winterruption will team up to co-host the official SWMM after party on Saturday, January 25 at The Forks Event Space featuring live music, DJs, and more.
"The independent live music sector is at the core of shaping the global music ecosystem, providing a platform for artists and music companies, connecting communities through unforgettable live experiences.
