Manitoba Chamber Orchestra
"To dream of burning coals"

From the album Michael Oesterle's Cello Concerto

Featured track, available from May 23 to May 31

The Manitoba Chamber Orchestra is ready to share some new music. Called "Canada’s tiny, perfect chamber orchestra” by the Toronto Star and led by music director Anne Manson, the MCO will launch Michael Oesterle's Cello Concerto officially on June 1, but music fans can get their hands on it a little early at their concert with soprano Measha Brueggergosman on May 23 at Westminster United Church. After this month, you'll have a bit of a wait to see the MCO live again... they'll return to the stage at their season opening concert with The Chooi Brothers on September 25. On the horizon, they'll perform with cellist Ariel Barnes, the featured soloist on the Michael Oesterle's Cello Concerto EP, on February 12. The MCO is also up for a Western Canadian Music Award for Classical Artist/Ensemble of the Year this October. MCO previously landed JUNO and WCMA nods for its 2013 release, Troubadour and the Nightingale. For you this week, we have a special first play of the new EP with the first movement of the CBC-commissioned concerto, "To dream of burning coals". Press play and don't miss your chance to see the MCO live in concert.
